Holy Orders

The Sacrament of Holy Orders is the sacred continuation of Jesus Christ’s priesthood, conferred upon His Apostles. Referred to as “the sacrament of apostolic ministry” by the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Holy Orders is a profound calling to serve God and His people.

"Ordination," derived from the Latin word ordinatio, signifies the incorporation of an individual into an ordained order. In Holy Orders, men are incorporated into the priesthood of Christ at one of three levels: the episcopate, the priesthood, or the diaconate. Through ordination, priests are empowered to preach, administer baptisms, witness marriages, hear confessions, offer absolutions, anoint the sick, and celebrate the Eucharist or Mass.

Experience the grace and responsibility of Holy Orders as individuals answer God's call to serve His Church. Contact the parish office to learn more about this sacred sacrament and the path to priesthood in the Catholic Church.
